Orions Belt Jewellery

Lucy Kelly, the ethereal goddess captured in the below collection, is the owner / designer / creative genius behind Orion's Belt Jewellery. She is the dreamiest lady you might have the pleasure of meeting - and I truly recommend making her acquaintance.

She is the type of person that will take your breath away from her delightful demeanor and crack you up to the point of tears from whatever the hell crazy thing she has said. You'll see her on the beach and imagine a hippie mermaid. You'll see her in the kitchen and rave over her moussaka. Or she might attend your wedding and spend the entire night teaching your adult male cousins how to ballroom dance.

I've known Lucy from my earliest high-school days all the way into seeing her become a strong successful power-woman with her own jewellery brand. Head to her website and check out the incredible designs she's created!

These photos were taken quite a while ago, when her brand was first emerging. I captured her at home to illustrate the design process of her jewellery, as well as capturing her wonderful self in her comfort zone, surrounded by books, plants, and a toilet trained bunny.

Maddie at Home

One warm winter afternoon in September I had the pleasure to take some film snaps of my once neighbour and talent musician Maddie Stewart.

I met Maddie through her greatly social brother, connecting through the Brisbane live music scene, as I seem to have done with many of my recent friends. Maddie is half of her two-piece folky vibe band Moodie Gloom. She’s is also a lovely, energetic and optimistic gal, and my cat-soul-sister.

A year or so ago Maddie moved in to my neighbouring apartments, which was a lovely surprise when I saw her wandering my street one day. A few months into being my neighbour she brought home a gorgeous little kitten Momo (who is picture below) - her name comes from The Last Airbender. Momo and my chubby cat Cadbury are fast play friends, just like their two mummies, except we enjoy red wine instead of cat treats.

These days Maddie has moved down the road to another home, back with her social and creative brother. Her kitty remains next door to us, and she visits every so often. I am, however, eternally grateful she only moved down the road and not too far away.

Blurst of Times Bands

Blurst of Time Festival in Brisbane is based over three separate venues and four separate locations. I photograph for one of these venues almost weekly, and had the pleasure of capturing some of the wonderful bands and people that attended that weekend.

This collection of photos are of a couple of local Brisbane bands that played Blurst, which I asked if they’d like some press shots. Prior to this day, I had recently purchased a Hasselblad 500cm and was keen to give some band portraits a whirl.
